Last week, my class went on on a trip to Bukit Kledang in Ipoh to hike. I prepared a hiking equipment such as hiking backpack, compass, first-aid kit, extra food and water. I feel excited because it is my first time going to hiking and exploring the nature. There were a total of 23 people including the students, teachers and and a guide. Before we started the hiking, our teacher was briefing us with safety precautions such as staying close to your partner, telling the teacher if u feel unwell, and not wondering around the forest alone.
As we start our journey, we were trailing the trails but it was quite difficult as it were a little steep and slippery. The teacher asked us to be careful so that the injury can be prevent. We arrived at the peak of the hill around 30 minutes later. The view from the peak is really picturesque. We were taking pictures with the banner to keep it as a memory. After taking many pictures together, we started setting up the tent to camp for a night.
After camping for the night, we were prepared to start our journey going down the hill. We started after having our breakfast. In the middle going down the hill, I suddenly got a muscle cramps causing me to slow down. I stopped for a second and waited for the pain to disappear. Before I know it, I have been left behind by my classmate. I reminded myself not to panic and recalled what we have been told if we got separate which is search the stream. I started looking for a stream nearby and follow down the stream to guide me wherever it tooks me. After that, I heard shouts looking for me. It was the member of search team.
I felt relief as I found my way back and handle the situation calmly. I am looking forward to another hiking trips as it was a thrilling experience for me today and it's an experience that I would always remember.

The total journey took around 2 hours but we made it and arrived before 7:30 am. There were lots of people around as we walked to the registration counter. After we got our tag as “participant”, we went to the briefing section to start our session with another 30 people.
After 30 minutes of briefing that explained all the safety precautions, we started our journey. The morning wind and sunlight felt so fresh on my skin after so long staying at home. The journey was difficult because there were a few sections of trails-steep and slippery trails. It took all of the participants 2 hours to make it to the top, but it was worth it. I took out my camera and snapped a lot of photos. Being at the top of the mountain, Gwen and I could see a breathtaking view from here. The joy filled my body when we unpacked our bags as we were staying here for a night.
The night was well spent with full of chatter and new things that we learnt. On the next morning, after all the participants ate the breakfast given, we started our journey down at 8:00 am. Gwen and I walked at a slow pace because both of our muscles were cramped from yesterday’s journey. I realised that we were left behind and separated from the others as I could not see anyone from our trip in my view. I began to feel a little bit anxious at the possibility of losing, but I recalled the briefing yesterday. The instructor said “If you get lost in the middle of the way, don’t panic and just follow the stream”. We started looking for it and followed it down the stream. Less than 15 minutes, we heard a group of people were shouting our names and turns out it was from a search team of the trip.
We sighed in relief as knowing we were not lost anymore. Before the journey began again, one of the search team’s members, Kak Wati, applied some lotion on our legs to relieve the cramps a bit. Then, we followed the search team down the hill and arrived at the finish line 20 minutes later.
